ADDIE - Analysis of a learning arrangement

In this post let me see my analysis phase of a learning package that the students of the Employee Training Management ICT in the period from April to mid-June to continue. The Technology Enhanced Learning course uses the ADDIE model.

In the last project for the aptitude test for core 1 of the Employee Training Management ICT everything comes together. This means that all the knowledge and skills in previous projects (sometimes not, sometimes a limited and sometimes a full professional context) learned is applied in this project: "Publishing within a Windows 2003 environment.

If a student project with a sufficient closure to this in principle can achieve the aptitude test.

Target

Students have the helpdesk of the KW1C a prototype of the current administrative environment, and supplement with a simple helpdesk website. Through this website "Hoedoejedat.edu" have enabled employees to be answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ) to find himself. The answers are in the form of a written instruction (in Word) or oral instruction (in a screencast) offered.

The above includes workflow management Employee Training 3.1 of the ICT, see summary of the work.

WP1.3

To achieve the above, students should be able to a Windows 2003 Domain Controller (including DNS server) in the direction of users, groups and based on these rights to folders. The prototype must also be complemented by a web server (IIS) and an FTP server for Windows 2003 so the website can host and manage remotely. In addition, there are two clients in the Domain added: Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux.

1.2 of the above work process includes training Employee Management ICT, see summary of the work.

WP1.2

The entire project will be individually delivered through a number of VMWare virtual machines (Windows XP, Ubuntu Linux and Windows 2003) are created.

Audience

Audience This learning package are 1st year students of the ICT Training Employee Management (approximately 75) approximately 30 weeks had in school. In recent weeks they have worked on the necessary knowledge through a number of projects to implement:

  • Theme Desktop operating systems:
    • Windows XP desktop;
    • Ubuntu Linux as a desktop;
    • Windows XP, Vista and Ubuntu as triple boot Linux Desktop.
  • Theme Mediawijsheid
  • Hardware Theme:
    • Designing a Windows XP PC;
    • Design of a Ubuntu Linux PC;
    • Designing a Windows Vista Ultimate PC Game.

    • Create groups in Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux.
  • Theme Helpdesk
    • Making an oral statement (screencast);
    • Making a written statement.
  • Theme Virtualization

Supporting all support and additional education, such as Dutch, English, Aries PC Technician, practice, et cetera.

Students are generally highly motivated to do projects, as this 1. the training of their choice, and 2. well with the doers of most students learning (intrinsic motivation). In addition, clearly results, driven by giving figures. Until now, one would like a high scoring rate for a project (extrinsic motivation).

It takes place entirely on the infrastructure of the ICT Academy, where students with their own eSATA external hard disk via a VMWare virtual private network can build. The required software is already present.

Content

The knowledge and skills for teaching this arrangement held myself completely, but the project is also working with two colleagues developed and implemented.

Much of the material is already available digitally and has already shown some years. It is available in the form of word-documents available in PDF Natschool offered. In addition, various work with references to Wikipedia and screencasts are frequently used. All material is developed and therefore duty free to use. Also a part of the material via a Creative Commons License already offered on YouTube as a vodcast via iTunes and more blog and Innovation in ICT and Education.

Last year the context increased by adding the Helpdesk section. Coming school year should the material be adjusted according to what was taught last year. Furthermore, there may be updated versions of software, such as Windows 2003 to Windows 2008.

Environment

The ICT Academy has been working years on how this project will be executed and can count on great support from management and colleagues. Because the projects previously carried out in the same line are also students in the state system used to pick. Also in November, students received one weeks media savvy, so even in this field certain knowledge and skills are present.

The whole is blended all material offered by next: project description, study tasks, evaluation forms, bronnnen, et cetera in N @ tschool also just-in-time instruction is given to approximately 37 students. There is also additional support and education available.

Means

The project itself is written by myself and two colleagues. The plan of deployment, I own 4 hours per / week to develop projects. My colleagues also have a number of hours per week for this. This time, however, distributed over all projects to be developed. But, we already start at about 80% by any projects already several years running. And each year the available time is improved.

All teachers have a laptop with VMWare, Word and in my case, the necessary software for making screencasts.
